LeeSon Bryce - The Power of Productive Habits

So, here we are again…

I haven’t written a blog on my artist website in almost 2 months…

But I truly believe this topic is long overdue…

Now, usually, I write in relation to my music; i.e the writing process of songs, the emotional process, and more. But this time, I wanted to write something different. I wanted to write about the power of having productive habits.

Over the course of the past 2 months (December 2020 – February 2021); I ended up releasing a mixtape plus 3 songs, lost (and rebuilt) a whole Instagram account, built another e-commerce site, increased my income, got back into exercising 5 days a week again, and so much more. (Not trying to toot my own horn lol)

However, If it were 5 years ago, my 2 months of “progress” would’ve consisted of these; partying, chasing girls, playing video games all day and more, and skipping college classes. Seriously, it literally would’ve been just that, nothing more.

After some serious reflection, I later began to think about what changed. Why am I getting so much more done now vs. 5 years ago when I was still back in college. What was my mind process back then compared to what I am now thinking today? What happened?

Admittedly, the past 5 years had been a growing process. I could write a whole article within itself explaining the whole process, but the more serious thing that changed was the development of productive habits. And honestly, it wasn’t an easy process.

In 2017, I started to read a whole myriad of self-help and success books. Thanks to an MLM I joined in the past, I now read more books today on the occasion. Over time, I started to apply the knowledge from these books to my daily life. And as a result, things started to change drastically. I started to create vision boards, yearly goals, monthly goals, weekly goals, and so on. Eventually, it got to the point where I started to write down and document my days daily, hour by hour.

Over time, my habits started to shift. I started to work out more, wake up earlier, get more tasks done daily, and so on. Now, I don’t go to bed until I get at least 3 tasks done daily. Over time, all this started to add up. I went from releasing a new song every 5-6 months, to releasing a whole music package (new song, lyric video, social media content posting, etc) nearly weekly. All because of a simple change in habit.

As you can see, this definitely wasn’t overnight. It took years to do this, and I still slip up every now and then. But luckily, it doesn’t have to take as long for you. It can actually take a month if you stay consistent. You really don’t have to go the extra mile on knowledge, books, courses, and consultations as I did. You can literally get started today.

So here are some Top Tricks and Tips for Making New Habits Stick,

Having everything in your life running on autopilot would be a nice change of pace. Not having to remember to do your chores, exercise, getting to work, and remembering to maintain a healthy diet is something just about everyone could get behind.

However, unless you can manage to invent robot servants, your daily work isn’t going to simply disappear. But, if you program behaviors, you can eliminate much of the struggle. With a small amount of discipline, you can create new habits that require little maintenance.

Here are some of the top tips and tricks for making new habits stick.

Start Simple – You don’t want to try and completely change your life overnight. It can be easy to get over-motivated and try to take on too much. If you wish to change your habits and ensure that they stick, then you need to start off small and build on your momentum.

Commit to 30 Days – It takes just between three and four weeks to make a new habit automatic. If you can get through the initial conditioning phase, which lasts around 21 days, you will find it much easier to sustain your new habit. A month is a good chunk of time to commit to change since it fits in your calendar easily.

Make it Daily If you want to make a new habit stick, it is critical that you are consistent with your actions. If you’re going to start exercising, you have to go to the gym every day for the first month. Only making it to the gym a couple of times a week will make it much harder to form the habit.

Remind Yourself – After committing yourself to your new habit for two weeks, it can be hard to remember what you’re working toward. Place reminders to work on your habit each day around your house, or you might end up missing a few days. When you miss time, it defeats the purpose of setting the habit in the first place, so make sure you are constantly reminding yourself of what you are trying to achieve.

Remove Temptation – This is a big one. In the first 30 days, you need to restructure your environment so that you don’t have any temptations. If you are trying to eat better, remove all the junk food from your house. If you’re trying to quit smoking, throw out your cigarettes so you won’t have to struggle with your willpower later. Getting your new habits to stick can be quite a challenge.

Follow these tips and tricks for getting your habits to stick so you can change your life for the better. It will help!
